Panthers Secure First Win as Dalton Throws for 319 Yards and 3 TDs, Defeating Raiders 36-22

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Andy Dalton provided the spark the Panthers needed, throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns to lead Carolina to a 36-22 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, marking their first win of the season.

Starting in place of the struggling Bryce Young, Dalton helped the Panthers (1-2) break their winless streak, improving to 4-0 in his career against the Raiders.

The Panthers, who had been outscored 73-13 in their first two games, saw a resurgence under Dalton. The veteran quarterback completed 26 of 37 passes, becoming the first quarterback this season to achieve a 300-yard, three-touchdown game. In his four career starts against the Raiders, Dalton has thrown for 1,027 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Carolina's offense found new life after scoring just three points in their first two road games. Dalton threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone, and Chuba Hubbard added 114 rushing yards while contributing five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.

The Raiders (1-2), coming off a win against Baltimore, struggled to find their rhythm. Quarterback Gardner Minshew completed 18 of 28 passes for 214 yards with a touchdown and an interception, but the team’s running game managed only 55 yards.

Las Vegas' defense couldn't stop Dalton or Hubbard, especially with Maxx Crosby limited after an ankle injury. The Panthers capitalized, scoring touchdowns on two of their first three drives and taking their first lead since December 2023.

The game also marked the first-ever matchup between two teams led by female presidents, Kristi Coleman of the Panthers and Sandra Douglass Morgan of the Raiders.

Key Injuries:

Panthers: WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) was hurt catching a touchdown before halftime. DT Shy Tuttle (foot) missed the game.

Raiders: LB Divine Deablo (oblique/concussion) and CB Decamerion Richardson (hamstring) were out. RT Thayer Munford (knee/ankle) left in the first quarter, and S Marcus Epps (knee) was injured in the third.
